I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1998 before commencing my residency at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. My gastroenterology training was completed through the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and The Townsville Hospital with the fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians being awarded in December 2007. I began my association with Northside Endoscopy Services in early 2008 and have enjoyed providing care in all aspects of general gastroenterology and hepatology since. In 2013 I completed a PhD in liver disease through the University of Queensland and the Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
I consult and perform endoscopy lists at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, Caboolture Private Hospital and North Lakes Specialist Centre (Moreton Day Hospital). I have admitting rights at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside. I work at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital as part of the Hepatology team and I am involved with medical student and registrar teaching there.

After completing basic training in Medicine in Brisbane in 1986, I spent two years as a trainee in Gastroenterology at Queen Mary’s University Hospital. I returned to Brisbane as an Academic fellow in Liver Disease at RBWH and then completed a further year at The PA Hospital as Senior Registrar before joining the University Medical Unit as a junior consultant there for a further four years. I finally saw the light and moved permanently North of the river in 1996 and have worked at Redcliffe Hospital and RBWH as a general gastroenterologist/hepatologist/interventional endoscopist ever since.
I remain actively involved in teaching and supervising students and trainee Gastroenterologists.

I am a Queensland trained Gastroenterologist with an interest in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, focused around hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. I graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2005. In addition to my gastroenterology training at Royal Brisbane Hospital, I was awarded my physician qualifications from The Royal College of Physicians, London. I then undertook a series of Interventional Endoscopy Fellowships at Liverpool Hospital Sydney, Gold Coast University Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Perth focusing in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiogram (ERCP), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and resection of large polyps and mucosal lesions. I also have a sub-specialty interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, functional gastroenterology and small bowel therapeutics (Balloon Enteroscopy).

Dr Jayanna obtained his fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2014 after going through vigorous training in Gastroenterology at Lyell McEwin Hospital, Adelaide and Westmead Hospital, Sydney. He also obtained Conjoint Committee accreditation in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2014. His research interest is in endoscopic management of premalignant lesions in the gastrointestinal tract and advanced endoscopic imaging. He is also actively involved in training junior medical staff, nursing staff and medical students at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.

Born in Brisbane, George completed his undergraduate studies in physiotherapy at the University of Queensland before moving to Sydney to study medicine. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2016 with honours and moved to Melbourne to undertake internship and residency at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. George completed his gastroenterology training through St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne and Monash Health, and received his fellowship of Royal Australian College of Physicians in December 2023. George undertook further training in the management of complex inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal ultrasound at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital. He is actively involved in research with a focus on innovative strategies to provide care to IBD patients living in rural Australia.
George has a special interest in gut health and autoimmune disorders of the bowel, including ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, coeliac disease and microscopic colitis.
George consults and performs endoscopy privately through North Lakes Specialist Centre (Moreton Day Hospital) and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside. George has admitting rights at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside. He works publicly at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital as part of the inflammatory bowel disease team.

Dr Madhavi Kasi is expert in general medicine and gastroenterology. MBBS, MRCP, FRACP
Dr Madhavi Kasi graduated from the NTR University, India, in 2004. She has completed general medicine and gastroenterology training at Nottingham University Hospital, UK, along with a sub-specialty in hepatology.
Dr Kasi has undertaken a Hepatology Transplant Fellowship from Addenbrookes Hospital, University of Cambridge, UK. She holds membership from the Royal College of Physicians, UK, and The Royal Australian College of Physicians.
Dr. Kasi is currently practicing as a consultant in Hepatology and Gastroenterology at the Prince Charles Hospital, and she has been the leading Hepatologist in this region since 2020. She extends her services to regional patients in Mackay. She has been actively training junior doctors and improving services around this region.

Dr Richard Cheng is an Australian trained gastroenterologist and the Director of Gastroenterology at Redcliffe Hospital in Brisbane. Dr Cheng graduated from the University of Melbourne and was awarded the Fellowship of the FRACP in 2014. His further studies included a Bachelor of Medical Science through the Austin Hospital Liver Transplant Unit, where he trained in management of chronic liver disease and its complications.
Dr Richard Cheng also completed a clinical fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, providing specialist consultation and multidisciplinary care in gastroenterological diseases to patients in both Brisbane and regional Queensland. He is involved in GP education, awareness campaigns and has presented at multiple local and international conferences. He is committed to developing holistic and multidisciplinary gastroenterological care for patients. He enjoys teaching and mentoring junior medical staff in his daily work.
Dr Cheng was recognised at the Metro North Australia Day Achievement Awards 2021 for his achievements in driving improvements in Gastroenterology by diligently improving the service, spending quality time with patients, and delivering compassionate care.

Hepatologist, gastroenterologist, endoscopist.
Tom Zhou completed his Medical Degree at the University of Queensland in 2003. He completed his physician training at Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2008, and subsequently undertook advanced training in Gastroenterology at Townsville and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He received extensive training in general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease and liver diseases during this time.
Tom developed specific interests in liver diseases, and conducted clinical research in viral hepatitis during his gastroenterology training. He presented at several congresses nationally and internationally. After obtaining fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Tom undertook further training in liver diseases. He completed a hepatology fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital where he had extensive experience and exposure in the management of viral hepatitis, liver disease, and transplant hepatology.
Tom joined Digestive Diseases Queensland after completion of his hepatology fellowship in 2013. Tom continues to provide high quality services to his patients in general gastroenterology and liver diseases as part of the Digestive Disease Queensland group.
